The place of the Baptism

Bethany, locally known as Al-Maghtas, which means baptism in Arabic, is the place where it is assumed the baptism of Jesus took place. This area, not far from Jericho, has been continuously occupied from the Age of Copper to the Byzantines, who here have built churches and baptismal pools. This site, protected by the UNESCO, attracts many peregrines that come here to pray, a place rich in history and spirituality that deserves a visit.
