1st Option: Full day Daintree walkabout tour (Approximately 10 hours:from 730am to 530pm): After arriving at Mossman Gorge, you will be treated to a guided rainforest walk along private, easy graded tracks, visiting special places and culturally significant sites, past traditional bark shelters and over cool rainforest streams. Your experienced interpretive Indigenous guides demonstrate traditional plant use, identify bush tucker sources, share their dreamtime legends, explain the history of cave paintings and provide an enchanting narrative of the rainforest and their special relationships within this unique tropical environment. After your 90 minute walk, enjoy tea, damper and question time with guide. Travel through Mossman. Your driver/guide will point out the highlights of Australia’s most northern sugar town. Arrive Silky Oaks Lodge, the lunch venue today where you will enjoy their specialty Barramundi lunch (alternate options are available) in this beautiful oasis amidst the rainforest, overlooking the Mossman River. Following lunch travel to Daintree and commence a fascinating hour cruising along the Daintree River wildlife environment, which is home to birds, tree snakes, unique plants and the estuarine crocodile - a great photo opportunity. Tropical fruit tasting of fruits in season is included as a special treat, or try an exotic tropical fruit ice-cream (own expense). Enjoy a short tour of the historical town of Port Douglas, before being returned to your accomodation.
2nd Option: Full day Kuranda Rail, Skyrail, Hartleys Crocodile Adventures tour (Approximately 10 hours:from 700am to 515pm): Your day beings with a luxury coach transfer from your accommodation to Freshwater Railway Station for a historical rail journey to Kuranda. Enjoy breathtaking views enroute, including the cane fields of Cairns to the tropical rainforest of Kuranda. Upon arrival in Kuranda, there is limited free time before boarding Skyrail at 11.30am. Relax & enjoy the world's most beautiful rainforest experience, stopping enroute to explore the two stations, including boardwalks & the CSIRO Interpretive Centre. After arriving at Caravonica Lakes, our coach will collect you & transfer you to Hartley's Crocodile Adventures - the best place to see crocodiles in Tropical North Queensland. Join us for a unique eco experience on the lagoon cruise through the ecologically significant Melaleuca wetlands; the domain of the saltwater crocodile. Explore the rest of the park with its abundance of wildlife, including water birds, turtles, wallabies and cassowaries. See the notorious head shake and death roll of a huge crocodile at the Crocodile Attack Show and the opportunity to hold a crocodile for a photo (own expense). Discover the world's most venomous snakes at the Snake Show before the return transfer to your accommodation.
3th Option: Full day 4wd Cape Tribulation and Daintree Rainforest Tour (Approximately 11 hours:from 7am to 6pm): Join Down Under Eco Tours for a day exploring the rainforest and amazing landscapes of the Daintree and Cape Tribulation wilderness area. Your informative and knowledgeable driver/guide will collect you from your accommodation and travel one of Australia's great scenic Highways before arriving at the Daintree River. We then cross the Daintree River and continue on to the Daintree Environmental Centre for a refreshing morning tea. Here an expert guide will take you on a boardwalk whilst explaining some of the fascinating secrets of one of the world's oldest rainforests. After the walk, guests can learn more through theatre presentations and the interactive displays, or obtain a closer look at life in the rainforest by ascending the Rainforest Canopy Tower. Afterwards, we continue onto Cape Tribulation Beach while your driver explains the rich history of the area. Walk the beach or boardwalk and relax in this tranquil setting.Our next stop is for lunch in a rainforest setting. Relax and enjoy the delicious food, and maybe a glass of wine. We then return to the Daintree River, with a stop enroute to enjoy the panoramic view from Alexandra Lookout. Re-crossing the river, we join a calm water cruise of this important waterway observing the wildlife that inhabits this environment. Your guide will point out the different types of wildlife and plants that make their home along the river. Keep your eyes peeled for the elusive and fearsome estuarine saltwater crocodile! The cruise terminates in Daintree Village, where you will board your coach for the return journey to Cairns.
