Upon arrival, you will pay a visit to the MALAWATI Fort – this Fort was built by the British & Dutch who governed Malaysia before 1957; Located by the river’s estuary, the fort consists of a Light House, an executioner’s block, a royal mausoleum & some colonial buildings. Visitors will also get to inter-act with 2 species of monkeys living in the forest nearby, i.e. long tail macaques & silver leaf monkeys, who observe the visitors in hope for a handout of peanuts & fruits. (Please do not feed the animals). After this, enjoy a lovely local Seafood dinner at a popular local restaurant by the riverside and watch the sun set. After dinner, we proceed quietly to KAMPUNG KUANTAN, the site of one of the largest firefly colonies in the world. You will board the wooden boat & be row by the boatman up the river to view the fireflies that lit up the night fluttering by the mangrove trees in search for food & mate. (All participants are requested to attire themselves in appropriate sportswear & comfortable walking/trekking shoes so as not to cause discomfort to your selves during the tour).
