Complement the trek with an in-depth visit to the informative Traditional Arts & Ethnology Centre. Start with a drive to the outskirts of Luang Prabang to the trekking trailhead. The 45-minute drive passes through lush countryside where vibrant green rice paddies are set against a backdrop of limestone mountains. Arrive at the farming village of Ban Xieng Lom, a typical Laos village, and commence the day’s trek. Walk along a narrow but well-trodden pathway into the rugged jungle. The path is used by residents from remote villages who come in to Ban Xieng Lom for trading at the market. The route has some challenging climbs but the hard work is rewarded with spectacular views and lush jungles.
